Lahore (Pakistan News Online) The federal government has proposed an increase in withholding tax on the purchase of new cars in the 2024-2025 budget, dealing another blow to the already struggling auto sector.
According to details, the tax increase will apply to vehicles with engines ranging from 850cc to 2000cc. The percentage of tax levied will also be determined based on the price of the vehicle.
The Toyota Yaris is one of the popular cars in Pakistan, known for its durability, fuel efficiency, and comfortable ride. If this tax rate is implemented, the Yaris will become more expensive compared to other Japanese cars.
Currently, the price of the Toyota Yaris ranges from PKR 4,479,000 to PKR 6,319,000, depending on the variant. With a 2% tax increase, the price of the basic variant of the Yaris is expected to rise by PKR 39,580, while the top variant’s price could increase by PKR 76,380.
