Lahore (Pakistan News Online) A case has been registered against famous Pakistani YouTuber and Vlogger Rajab Butt at Lahore’s Nishtar Colony police station, in which PECA Act and sections 295-A and 295-C have been included.
According to the FIR, Rajab Butt has been accused of using words in some of his video statements that fall under the category of hurting religious sentiments.
Previous case and case details
This is not the first time that Rajab Butt has been involved in a legal issue. In December last year, he was arrested on charges of possessing a lion cub and weapons without a license, but was released after being fined Rs 50,000 and sentenced to one year of community service.
Now, the new case registered has included provisions of PECA Act and 295-A, under which the police can arrest the accused without a warrant and start an investigation.
Reference to Perfume 295 and Sidhu Moosewala
The case also states that Rajab Butt recently introduced a perfume called “295”, which created a lot of controversy. The FIR also refers to Indian singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was murdered on May 29, 2022. Sidhu Moosewala had a famous song called “295”, which was also criticized in India in the past.
Rajab Butt’s explanation and apology
A few hours before the FIR was filed on the morning of March 25, Rajab Butt apologized in a video message on social media.
In the video, he is seen standing in front of the prayer hall with the Holy Quran in his hand and says, “My faith is in Allah and Last Messenger (PBUH), I completely believe in the sanctity of 295-A or 295-C.” He added that “I said some wrong words in ignorance while launching the perfume under the name 295, for which I apologize.”
Rajab Butt also announced that he is discontinuing his perfume with immediate effect.
