Zakat deduction, bank will be closed on Monday

Karachi (Pakistan News Online) Banks have been announced to be closed on Monday, the second day of Ramadan.

The State Bank of Pakistan has said that banks will remain closed on Monday, the 2nd of Ramadan, for Zakat deduction. The announcement states that the banking sector will remain closed for public transactions on the 1st of Ramadan.

According to the announcement, all employees will be present in the office for work as usual (except for transactions with the public).

What is Nisab of Zakat

It is important to mention here that minimum Nisab fixed at Rs179,689 for Zakat in Pakistan in 2025.

The ministry has informed banks that Zakat will be applicable on saving accounts and similar types of accounts, while current accounts will remain exempt.

Fitrana in 2025

Islamic Ideological Council recommended, a minimum of Rs220 per person should be paid as Fitra amount based on wheat, while those opting for other forms of food products like dates, raisins, or dried apricots will be required to pay varying amounts.

Specifically, Fitrana for dates is calculated at Rs1,650 for raisins at Rs2,500 and for dried apricots at Rs5,000.
