Punjab University’s Faculty of Computing & Information Technology (FCIT) organised its 14th Career Fair on Friday, February 21, 2025.
The event was sponsored by Stewart Pakistan. More than 60 leading IT companies from software industry set up their stalls to hire graduates of FCIT from a batch of around 500 coming from domains of computer science, software engineering and information technology.
These product and service based IT companies, contributed USD 3.2 billion to the economy of Pakistan in the year 2024, marking a robust 24 percent increase from the previous fiscal year.
Students at the career fair were also enlightened about scholarships and entrepreneurship.
This year various state-of-the-art final year projects (FYPs) were also presented.
Various distinguished guests graced the event and appreciated the organizers and the faculty for arranging an event that holds an extremely important place in a student’s academic and professional journey.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Prof. Dr. Mansoor Sarwar (Former VC, UET), Dr. Naveed Malik (Former Rector, Virtual University), Mr. Nauman Sheikh (Lead ML-Ops & Sr. Research Scientist, Motive), Dr. Amjad Abbass Khan (President ASA), various members of ASA and Syndicate were among the notable guests.
In a press statement, FCIT Dean Prof. Dr. Shahzad Sarwar said that FCIT is committed to make an impact by delivering quality IT education and enhancing Pakistan’s share in the global market of software industry.
He said that FCIT is the leading public sector institution of Pakistan which is producing skilled graduates who are working on key positions in multi-national and national IT companies.
He said that the purpose of the career fair was to facilitate FCIT graduates in matching their skills and abilities with the available career opportunities through interaction with recruitment executives and team leads of various software houses.
He said that participant companies conducted interviews and preliminary recruitment tests, collected CVs, presented technological trends and shared job descriptions/specifications of the available opportunities with the students.
Prof. Dr. Shahzad Sarwar and Prof. Dr. Kamran Malik (HOD, DDS) thanked the organizers Dr. Arifa Mirza, Mr. Abdul Mateen, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah and Dr. Sanam Ahmed for their relentless efforts in making the event a success. Furthermore, they thanked the FCIT faculty members for their contribution towards achieving the goal of quality education.
Moreover, on behalf of the faculty members, Prof. Shahzad Sarwar and Prof. Dr. Kamran Malik expressed profound gratitude to the worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali for gracing the event and showing support to ensure growth of FCIT in every possible manner.
