Peshawar (Pakistan News Online) 1.6 million people have registered for free solar systems in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to private TV channel Dunya News, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy Department says that under the free solar scheme, solar systems will be provided to 130,000 people in the province.
In the first phase, 65,000 and in the second phase, 65,000 people will get free solar systems. People registered under the Benazir Income Support Program are eligible for free solar systems.
Officials say that solar systems will be provided at a 50 percent subsidy to those using up to 100 units of electricity. The total cost of a system is about Rs. 200,000. The scrutiny process will begin after the last date for applications.
