According to Indian media, Rishabh Pant achieved this honor after being bought by Lucknow Supergiants at a record-breaking bid in the IPL 2025 auction.
Recently, the 2-day player bidding ceremony for the IPL season 2025 began in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in which Lucknow Supergiants made the highest bid in the history of IPL on Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant and bought him for 27 crore Indian rupees, after which Pant became the most expensive player in the history of IPL.
According to Indian media, Rishabh Pant is included in the B category of the BCCI’s central contract for 2023-24, from which he receives 3 crore Indian rupees annually.
However, after the compensation of 27 crore rupees in the IPL, his annual income has now reached 30 crore Indian rupees in total.
Thus, Rishabh Pant has left Virat Kohli behind in the list of highest-paid Indian cricketers. The 36-year-old Kohli’s total annual income, combining the IPL and central contracts, is 28 crore Indian rupees.
The third place in this list is taken by Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, who was bought by Punjab Kings for 26 crore 75 lakh Indian rupees for IPL 2025.
