Islamabad (Pakistan News dot com dot pk) The figures related to the money spent by the government on dealing with Pakistan Tehreek insaf ( PTI ) sit-ins and protests in 18 months have come to light.
According to official figures, Rs 2.7 billion was spent on dealing with PTI sit-ins and protests in 18 months.
The expenditure on sit-ins and protests in the last 6 months has been around Rs 1.2 billion.
Media Reports suggests citing official figures, Rs 800 million was paid to the owners of 3,000 rented containers, while more than Rs 900 million was spent on the transport of security personnel and about Rs 1.5 billion was spent on food and transport for the police.
Rs 300 million was spent on the deployment of FC, Rangers and the army, 12,000 police personnel from Islamabad and 16,000 police personnel from Punjab were deployed on duty.
Government and non-government property worth Rs 1.5 billion was damaged, PTI held 120 large and small protests in Punjab, KP and Islamabad, reports added.
According to official figures, 4 security personnel were martyred and more than 220 were injured in the protests, while Rawalpindi, Attock, Lahore, Islamabad were the centers of the protests.
More than 30,000 security personnel were deployed for the protests in Rawalpindi, Attock, Lahore, Islamabad, during this period.
370 cameras of Safe City worth Rs 28 crore were damaged in Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, while 220 small and large police vehicles were damaged.
Official sources say that the November 24 protest may cost more than Rs 30 crore, and a request has been made to summon 34,000 security personnel for this protest.
More than 2,000 containers have been brought to Rawalpindi and Islamabad to stop Sunday’s protests.
