Islamabad (Pakistan News online) Federal Defense Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Asif has rejected the burning of rice crop residues as the cause of smog in Punjab and point outs the reason of smog, saying that that the main cause of air pollution is transport, followed by burning of crops, then burning of garbage are the second and third major causes.
On the social media platform “X”, Khawaja Asif shared a chart related to smog, which states the real rulers have put us behind the truck lights on this issue.
While sharing this chart, the Minister said that ‘there is only noise that smog is caused by burning of rice crop residues, if you look at this chart, you will see the real culprits whose names are not even mentioned in this matter’.
He wrote that crop residues have been burned every year since the time of Mohenjo-daro, however, our real rulers, i.e. the administration/bureaucratic executive, have put us behind the truck lights that the main cause of smog or air pollution is burning of crops.
He wrote that smog is being spread from India because the wind is blowing from east to west, what will happen when it blows from west to east?
Khawaja Asif further wrote that the business organizations are a big force and they are not in favor of changing unique Market timings. We politicians also have political ambitions, that we are victims of expediency, so that our business and politics do not suffer any harm.
