According to details, Former Pacer Basit Ali yesterday stated in a video from his YouTube channel that Malik was involved in match-fixing and would come out with evidence if required. Ali questioned the decision taken to appoint Malik as a mentor and termed the approach of PCB as defective since they appointed him who earlier claimed to have lost a match deliberately.
Ali recalled an interview where Malik reportedly confessed to deliberately losing a match. He also expressed his discontent with the decision to appoint Muhammad Haris as captain of the Stallions instead of Babar Azam, claiming that Azam is far superior and that Haris’s appointment was a slight against Azam.
Ali termed the decision cowardly, but Azam must have stood like Umar Akmal or Ahmed Shehzad and declined to play with Haris.
Ali felt sorry over Malik’s choice who made him the captain when he thought it to be a big time disrespect as Babar Azam was ignored for the post.
Shoaib Malik’s Response
In response to the controversy surrounding Haris’s appointment, Shoaib Malik defended his decision by highlighting Haris’s abilities and potential. Malik explained that the decision to appoint Haris was based on the skills and long-term potential he saw in him, stating that the qualities required for captaincy differ from personal performance.
Despite having Babar Azam and Shan Masood, the Test captain of Pakistan, as part of the Stallions team, Malik stood by his choice of Haris as captain, emphasizing his commitment to selecting someone who could bring sustained success to the team.
This ongoing dispute underscores the tensions and differing opinions within the cricketing community regarding leadership and integrity in the sport.
