Lahore (Pakistan News) Renowned writer and playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has stated that the nation will not find another Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
In an interview with a private channel, Qamar drew comparisons between himself and other literary figures, saying, “There was only one Bulleh Shah, only one Saadat Hasan Manto, and there is only one Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. This nation will not get another like me.”
He revealed that a recent incident has left him disheartened, and he is now contemplating whether to stay in the country or leave. “I have never hated this land, and I pray to God for strength because I cannot live without this soil,”.
Qamar further shared details of a harrowing experience where he was kidnapped and held hostage for seven hours. He recounted how the kidnappers repeatedly made him recite the Kalma and even fired bullets at him. One bullet landed near his foot but did not hit him, which he believes might have been intentional by the shooter.
Qamar also voiced his support for designer Maria B., who he believes is working towards the noble cause of preserving Islamic values. “I stand with Maria B. in her mission to uphold Islamic principles,” he added.

Pakistani scriptwriter and dramatist Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was kidnapped and robbed in Lahore, and reportedly returned home after paying ransom.
In her statement to police, Amna said she was in contact with Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar for two weeks, exchanging pictures during phone conversations. She said Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar asked to meet her and she invited him to her residence located in Barhria Town.
When Qamar arrived at the site during midnight, the accomplices of Amna held the writer and assaulted him.
Lahore police detained a 12-member gang, including a woman, involved in a honey-trapping scheme targeting the acclaimed playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar.
The group was found with sophisticated weapons, a large sum of money, and mobile phones. Authorities are now looking for additional victims of this criminal network.
In a press briefing, DIG Imran Kishwar detailed the case, saying Qamar was restricted by doctors from going out during the day, leading him to agree to late-night meeting.
