Lahore (Pakistan News Online) On the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah 1445, Pakistan celebrated Eid ul-Adha with great religious enthusiasm as citizens across the country sacrificed animals in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son for Allah.
The day began with special prayers in mosques nationwide, asking for the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, and the prosperity, development, and safety of the country. In their sermons, religious scholars highlighted the significance of the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS), urging people to remember the poor and share their joy with them.
Thousands of congregational prayers took place in major cities, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar, as well as in smaller towns and villages. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered his Eid prayers in Model Town, Lahore. The Governor of Sindh prayed at Karachi’s Polo Ground, while the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, performed his prayers in his native district of Dera Ismail Khan.
Following the prayers, citizens across Pakistan proceeded to perform the ritual sacrifice of animals, following the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Provincial, district, and municipal administrations took special measures to dispose of the animal remains and ensure cleanliness in the areas.
Messages from the President and Prime Minister
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message to the nation, congratulated the people on Eid al-Adha. He emphasized that the spirit of sacrifice is about putting aside personal desires to achieve higher objectives. He extended his greetings to the entire Pakistani nation and the Islamic world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and the great Islamic act of Hajj, praying that Allah accepts their worship and sacrifices.
He urged the people to remember those who are unable to afford the sacrifice so that they can also partake in the celebrations.Prime Minister Sharif also reminded the nation of the struggles of the oppressed Muslims in Palestine and the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, praying for their strength and resilience against tyranny and oppression. He wished for true happiness of Eid al-Adha and the spirit of sacrifice to be embraced by all.
President Asif Ali Zardari also extended his greetings to the Pakistani nation and the Islamic world, praying for blessings and happiness for Pakistan and the entire Muslim Ummah on this auspicious occasion. He reminded the nation of the submission and obedience demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS) to Allah’s will.
He highlighted that Eid al-Adha teaches us to remain steadfast in trials and to find success through obedience to Allah. President Zardari called on the people of Pakistan to renew their commitment to helping those in need with brotherhood, sacrifice, love, and sincerity during this festive time.
