Lahore (Pakistan News Online) Following a poor performance as captain in the ICC T20 World Cup, reports suggest that the PCB has decided to keep Babar Azam away from captaincy for the upcoming 2-Test home series against Bangladesh.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, on the recommendation of a 7-member selection committee, had appointed Babar Azam as the T20 team captain, replacing Shaheen Afridi, and entrusted him with the white-ball team leadership until the 2025 Champions Trophy.
It was expected that the board intended to appoint him as the captain for the 2-Test series against Bangladesh, which is part of the ICC Test Championship. However, after the World Cup’s poor performance, the board has decided to retain trust in Shan Masood for the Test team leadership instead of considering Babar Azam.
It is also reported that Australian Test fast bowler Jason Gillespie will join Shan Masood as the coach of the Test team.
