Mayor Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu got Arrested

Istanbul (International Desk) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main political rival and Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu has been arrested.

According to international media reports, Ekrem Imamoglu was detained by Turkish police on Wednesday morning. He has been charged with corruption and aiding a terrorist group.

Reacting to his arrest, Ekrem Imamoglu said that the voice of the people cannot be suppressed. After Ekrem Imamoglu’s arrest, fierce protests have started in Turkey.

According to express.pk People are demonstrating against the government on the streets, university campuses and train stations in Istanbul, Ankara and other cities. Reports of clashes between police and protesters in Istanbul are also being received.

The government has imposed a four-day curfew, under which public gatherings are completely banned. However, the opposition says this is a conspiracy to remove Imamoglu from the presidential race.
