Lahore (Pakistan News online) The Punjab government has banned several stage actresses from performing in theatres. The reason for this move has been attributed to “indecent” dancing on stage.

According to the Punjab Arts Council, the actresses who have been banned will not be able to participate in any theatre show during Eid-ul-Fitr. The list issued includes renowned stage actresses Sonia Chaudhry, Silk Jatt, Urooj Khan, Tina Chaudhry and Adiba Rana, among others.

The authorities have also issued legal notices to these actresses, accusing them of engaging in “immoral acts” on stage. The government has sought an explanation from the actresses, but has not received any response yet.

The crackdown is being carried out to regulate stage shows according to cultural and moral standards. Officials say that further action may be taken if the notices are not responded to.

Stage plays in Punjab attract large audiences, especially during Eid, but authorities are now keeping a close eye on these performances to prevent “inappropriate content.”
