Lahore (Pakistan News online) Lahore police has arrested a man covered in gold paint, famously known as the ‘Golden Man,’ for begging in public places.

According to details, the man, who attracted crowds with his unique appearance and performance-like begging style, was reportedly earning significant amounts of money from passersby but he denies the allegations, stating that he does not ask for money, people give it willingly.

The accused was taken into custody from Gulberg area, “I am a resident of Band Road and a father of two,” he told the police.

“This is an art form practiced worldwide, but the traffic police do not understand the difference between art and begging,” he argued. “I simply stand by the roadside.”

According to ProPakistani, A traffic warden stated that the arrest was made on the orders of senior officials, claiming that the performer was obstructing traffic.

It’s important to mention here that Authorities have intensified crackdowns on professional beggars amid concerns over organized begging networks in the city.

Officials emphasize that such acts, while seemingly creative, fall under public nuisance laws and encourage illegal practices.

After the news broke out, the social media user raises questions about street performance, public entertainment, and the thin line between art and illegal begging.
