Mumbai (Pakistan News Online) Famous actress of the nineties Mamta Kulkarni has broken her silence on her controversial photoshoot of the past. She recently joined the Kunar Akhara by taking sannyas at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.
In a recent interview, Mamta Kulkarni talked about her half-naked photoshoot for the famous Stardust magazine of the 90s. She explained, “When I did this photoshoot, I was in ninth grade. Stardust people showed me a picture of Demi Moore which I didn’t find obscene.
I said at that time that I was still a virgin but people didn’t understand it because according to them, anything can be done to get into Bollywood. But that wasn’t the case with me, my father was a transport commissioner for 35 years. Since I didn’t know anything about sexuality, I couldn’t associate nudity with obscenity. If you don’t have sexual awareness, you won’t consider nudity as obscene.”
Mamta Kulkarni was also asked about these songs, to which she said, “Like Madhuri Dixit or other actresses, we only focus on our dance, not on the lyrics of the songs. I used to focus only on the dance steps, I never thought about the lyrics of the songs.”
She also talked about her famous item song “Koi Jaye To La Aaye”. She said, “I had returned from a world tour with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan when Rajkumar Santoshi requested me to do this song.
The film was on hold for seven years because its heroine Meenakshi Seshadri had left the industry after marriage and no buyers were being found for the film. I did this song like a stage show, which I was an expert in.”
