According to foreign media, a man sitting in the stands died after being hit by a ball during the hammer throw competition of the indoor athletics games held at the University of Colorado on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the University of Colorado confirmed that the athlete’s throw hit the man sitting in the stands while breaking the barrier installed in the indoor grandstand. A ball in the hammer throw competition weighs approximately 7.26 kilograms.
According to the report, the 57-year-old man who died was the father of an athlete participating in the event. Colorado Police have commented on this tragic incident and called it an accident.
