Quetta (Pakistan News) Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators got a new captain in the form of Saud Shakeel after former captains Sarfraz Ahmed and Riley Rossouw.
Yesterday, former PSL champion team Quetta Gladiators announced the name of their new captain Saud Shakeel on social media platforms and said that he is ready to take the team to new heights.
Saud Shakeel will take on leadership duties in the event scheduled in April and May this year.
It should be noted that Saud Shakeel is currently serving as the vice-captain of the Pakistan Test team. It is also worth mentioning here that the Gladiators will not have the services of head coach Shane Watson in PSL 10, due to which former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is likely to get the responsibilities of head coach, while Moin Khan will be given the responsibilities of director of cricket.
Sarfaraz Ahmed is currently the mentor of the Champions Cup, but according to the agreement, he can work for the PSL franchise.
The former captain has covered a long journey of 9 years with the team as a player, in which he was the captain of the Quetta team for 8 years, while in the last season, African cricketer Riley Rossouw was given the leadership duties in his place.
Under the leadership of the former captain, the Gladiators also won the honor of becoming the first PSL champion in 2019. Sarfraz scored 1525 runs in 86 matches as captain.
However, before the start of the current season’s drafting, the Gladiators released Sarfraz from the squad and he became part of the draft for the first time after 9 years, but no franchise picked him.
