Washington (Pakistan News foreign desk) A 100-year-old veteran who fought in World War II and spent nearly three decades in the US Army has revealed the secret to long age in one sentence.

According to Fox News, a special ceremony was held at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando, Florida, to honor 100-year-old World War II veteran Colonel William Bill A. Connelly. The ceremony was held during a flag lowering ceremony where Connelly saluted the American flag.

This was the same flag that was lowered in honor of the death of former US President Jimmy Carter and was later lowered and presented to Connelly.

After the ceremony, Disney staff met Connelly and shook his hand, but a unique scene was witnessed when other park visitors also lined up to thank him for his service. Connelly expressed his joy after the ceremony, saying that he felt great.

Connelly and his family are big Disney fans, and his son-in-law is also a Disney employee. When asked about the secret to his longevity, he smiled and said, “You have to have happy people around you.”

Connelly joined the army at the age of 18. He was part of the famous D-Day landings on Omaha Beach in Normandy during World War II.

During his military service, Connelly served on the European and Pacific fronts and spent 27 years in the army. He was awarded the “Bronze Star” for distinguished service in the field. Connelly spent most of his military career with the “Counterintelligence Corps.”
