Mumbai (Pakistan News Online) In a bizarre turn of events, a wedding in Jharkhand, India, was called off when the groom fainted due to the cold, prompting the bride to refuse to continue with the ceremony.
According to Indian Media, The incident took place on Sunday and involved a groom named Arnav, from Bhagalpur in Bihar, and a bride named Ankita. The wedding, held in the groom’s hometown, started with traditional rituals but quickly took an unusual turn.
Unlike the customary practice where the groom’s family brings the wedding procession (Baraat) to the bride’s home, Ankita’s family brought the baraat to Arnav’s house. Ankita had already expressed her reservations about this deviation from tradition.
The ceremony began smoothly, with guests participating in rituals and sharing dinner. However, during the crucial pheras—the final and most significant part of a Hindu wedding—the groom started shivering due to the cold and eventually collapsed in the outdoor venue.
The groom’s family rushed him indoors and attempted to revive him by rubbing his palms and feet. A local doctor was called, and after about 90 minutes, Arnav regained consciousness.
Despite this, Ankita expressed concerns about Arnav’s health, fearing a more significant underlying issue. She also questioned why her family had to bring the baraat to the groom’s house, which further escalated tensions between the two families.
Amid the confusion, Ankita decided to cancel the wedding. Her family, upset by the turn of events, called the police to mediate the situation.
Although the police tried to reconcile the families and resume the ceremony, the discussions yielded no resolution, leading to the wedding being officially called off.
This unusual incident has left both families and the local community in shock, adding to the growing list of peculiar wedding-related stories from India.
