Dubai (Pakistan News Online) A court has sentenced a German woman to 3 months in prison for blackmailing and threatening her ex-husband through social media. According to authorities, during the trial, the woman denied the crime, but according to the police investigation, she was found guilty.

According to media reports, the Dubai Criminal Court found a 48-year-old woman guilty of demanding $1.5 billion from her ex-husband and harming him and his partner. The incident occurred on December 6 and 7, 2023. The German woman was in a dispute with her ex-husband over child custody and financial matters.

The woman sent several threatening messages through Telegram and Facebook, demanding that the ex-husband transfer the money to her account in a Swiss bank.

The ex-husband reported the matter to Dubai Police authorities and told investigators that the threats were intended to force him to pay more than he had already paid her. Forensic evidence experts found the woman guilty of violating the UAE’s cybercrimes and security laws after examining the incriminating messages on her mobile phone.

Later, after hearing the parties’ arguments, the court suspended the three-year sentence and sent the woman to jail for three months on the condition that she would not commit further crimes.
