Kuwait revokes citizenship of over 3,000 people for fraud, deceit

Kuwait City (Pakistan News online ) The Kuwaiti government has revoked the citizenship of 3,043 people on fraud, deceit and other charges.

According to Arab media, the people whose citizenship was revoked in Kuwait include 2,863 people from 54 countries who have dual citizenship.

The organizing committee for verifying citizenship had decided to revoke Kuwaiti citizenship from these people for various reasons, including fraud.

The decision to revoke citizenship will be sent to Kuwait’s Council of Ministers for approval.

The recently established committee has registered more than 12,000 cases of citizenship revocation since August.

The Kuwaiti government has revoked the citizenship of more than 9,000 people in a period of three and a half months after various charges were proven.

Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Interior, Fahd Al-Yousef, said that women who are married to Kuwaiti men, divorced or widowed by Kuwaiti men and residing in Kuwait will have their jobs protected and will continue to receive their fixed salaries. If such women are retired, they will also continue to receive their pensions.
