Lahore (Pakistan News Online) Indian Media claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board agreed to a Hybrid Model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with conditions.
According to Indian media reports, the PCB’s agreement hinges on the condition that a similar approach will apply to future ICC events hosted in India. The PCB has emphasized that if India refuses to play in Pakistan, the same formula should be applied to Pakistan’s matches in India.
Among the PCB’s key conditions is that if India does not reach the semi-finals or finals, these matches should be held in Pakistan instead of at a neutral venue. Additionally, the PCB has demanded a share of the gate money from matches hosted in the UAE.
PCB Chairman’s Statement
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Mohsin Naqvi met with Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) head Mubashir Usmani in Dubai to discuss the matters pertaining to the forthcoming Champions Trophy, originally slated to happen in Pakistan, next year in February.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi urged the importance of fair and equal treatment. He stated that decisions must serve the interests of both cricket and the nation and that long-term solutions should be established, extending beyond the Champions Trophy.
He emphasized that one-sided decisions are unacceptable and reiterated that if Pakistan is willing to play in India, then India should reciprocate by playing in Pakistan.
PCB sources have warned that if Pakistan’s conditions are not met, the board will not accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy. A final decision from the ICC on the matter is expected in the coming days.
Ultimatum by PCB
According to PCB insiders, if Pakistan’s conditions are not met, they will not agree to the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy.
The ICC’s final decision on the matter is eagerly awaited.
