Govt announces winter electricity relief package with up to Rs. 26 per unit savings

Islamabad (Pakistan News) The Government of Pakistan has announced a relief package for the extra electricity usage in winter compared to last winter. The package will offer significant discounts for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers across the board.

According to the Power Division, under this package, a flat rate of Rs. 26.07 per unit will apply to the extra electricity consumed from December 2024 to February 2025.

Current electricity rates for residential consumers range from Rs. 37.49 to Rs. 52.07 per unit. Under the package, additional usage will cost Rs. 26.07 per unit, providing household consumers savings of Rs. 11.42 to Rs. 26 per unit.

For industrial consumers, the existing rates range from Rs. 31.79 to Rs. 41.12 per unit. With the new package, the rate for extra usage will be Rs. 26.07 per unit, resulting in savings of Rs. 5.72 to Rs. 15.05 per unit.

Commercial consumers, whose current rates range from Rs. 39.53 to Rs. 48.78 per unit, will also benefit, with additional electricity priced at Rs. 26.07 per unit, allowing savings of Rs. 13.46 to Rs. 22.71 per unit.

This electricity relief package will apply to residential, commercial, and industrial consumers across the board.
