New York (Pakistan news Online) World-famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo recently shared an emotional story about his childhood friend Albert, whose selfless act changed the course of Ronaldo’s life and career forever.
Ronaldo and Albert, as children, both dreamed of joining the prestigious “ Sporting Lisbon Academy”. Their big opportunity came during the “UA Championship” game, where scouts from the academy were present. However, only one spot remained, and the selection would go to the player who scored the most goals.
“I remember scoring the first goal,” Ronaldo recalled. “Albert was playing well, too, and soon had a clear chance to hit the ball in net but instead of taking the shot, he passed the ball to me, and I scored again. That one moment altered my entire life.”
After the match, Ronaldo asked Albert why he didn’t take the shot despite having a clear opportunity to score. Albert’s reply was simple yet profound: ‘You are better than me, and I believe in you’.
Ronaldo said this was the career-deciding moment that Albert had sacrificed for me and never became a professional footballer. However, Ronaldo vowed to never forget his friend’s loyalty. “When I succeeded, I made sure to take care of Albert. I bought him a mansion and some expensive cars because loyalty in friendship deserves to be honored.”
