Karachi (Pakistan News Online) The Sindh High Court has granted bail to Natasha Danish Iqbal, accused in a drug-related case stemming from the Karsaz accident, with a condition to submit Rs 1 million in surety bonds. The case was heard by Justice Karim Khan Agha, with senior lawyer Farooq H. Naek representing the accused.

During the hearing, Farooq H. Naek informed the court that in the primary FIR related to the case, a settlement had been reached between the parties. He also stated that bail had already been granted in another related FIR. The state prosecutor argued that Natasha was allegedly under the influence of drugs when driving at the time of the accident. However, the defense counsel pointed out ambiguities in the medical report, stating that while methamphetamine was found in her urine, it was not detected in her blood.

The court questioned the prosecution about the exact amount of methamphetamine found in Natasha’s system, but the prosecutor admitted that the medical report did not specify the quantity.

Justice Agha also remarked that the victims of the accident had reached a settlement with Natasha, who is the mother of three children and has been in jail for over a month and a half. Farooq H. Naek further stated that Natasha had been undergoing psychiatric treatment for years, and it was possible that medications she was prescribed could have contributed to the findings in the medical report.

Following these deliberations, the court ordered Natasha’s release on bail, provided she submits surety bonds worth Rs 1 million.

The case dates back to August 20, when a high-speed car driven by Natasha collided with a motorcycle on Karsaz Road, resulting in the deaths of a father and daughter. After the accident, Natasha was arrested, and medical reports confirmed the presence of methamphetamine (commonly known as ‘ice’) in her system. The incident gained widespread attention after a video of the crash went viral on social media, turning it into a high-profile case.

On September 6, in a surprising turn of events, the family of the victims announced they had forgiven Natasha “for the sake of God.” They submitted affidavits expressing no objection to her bail, leading the court to grant bail in the attempted murder case against her on a surety of Rs 100,000.

Today, the Sindh High Court approved Natasha’s bail in the drug-related charge, ordering her to deposit Rs 1 million as surety.
