“Angel of mina?” story of a Pakistani citizen who saved dozen’s lives in Makkah

Riyadh (Pakistan News) a Pakistani citizen saved the lives of Indian pilgrims during hajj in Mina, also known as Muna, and commonly known as the “City of the Tents” in the district of Masha’er, makkah. Social media users are calling Asif Bashir the “angel of mina”.

According to details, indian politicians are also praising the pakistani citizen who’s name is Asif Bashir from KPK, Pakistan’s Province. He is data base supervisor in CM house Peshawar and was working as volunteer during hajj. Indian Nationals are declaring him as “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”who saved lives of Indian pilgrims in extreme heat in Saudi Arabia.

Asif Bashir said, “During the Hajj, my job was to guide the Pakistani pilgrims, but when I saw the heat-affected pilgrims, I decided to help them.” On that day, I took 26 pilgrims who fainted from the heat to the hospital, out of which 9 died while 17 were saved. Out of these 17, 16 were Indian citizens and one was a British citizen of Pakistani origin.

Mr. Asif testified that the pilgrims from India were calling me ‘Pakistani Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and many were calling me ‘Angel of Mina’. During Hajj 2024, hundreds of pilgrims died due to extreme heat. Asif Bashir took care of a heat-stricken group of Indian nationals. Indian politicians are also praising for his selfless spirit and he has been specially thanked by the Indian government.

In this regard, a letter has been written to Asif Bashir by Indian Minority Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju, in which he writes that “because of you, the lives of many Indian citizens were saved in Mina.” We will always remember your bravery and in future people will follow the example you set.”

Asif Bashir told that he was also met by the Indian Consul General posted in Saudi Arabia. The Indian Consul General told him that he would also nominate him for India’s ‘Jevan Raksha Padak’ (Award).
