Lahore (Pakistan News Online) The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an important advisory urging citizens to exercise caution when purchasing mobile phones.

According to a report by private TV channel Aaj News, the PTA’s statement on social media advises citizens to be wary of clone or duplicate mobile devices.

The PTA’s statement emphasizes the importance of buying phones from trusted retailers and ensuring that the devices come with a warranty.

Consumers are advised to always purchase sealed box mobile phones to verify that the IMEI number on the phone matches the number on the box, which should also bear the official PTA stamp.

The PTA also instructs users to verify their mobile phones through the PTA website, by texting the IMEI number to 8484, or by using the DVS app.

In case a consumer falls victim to a scam, they should contact the vendor and report the incident to the FIA.
