Mumbai (Pakistan News Online) In a shocking revelation, Umesh Kumar, a close friend of Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami, disclosed that Shami attempted suicide during a period of continuous hardships.
According to details, Mohammad Shami’s life was in the headlines for a long time due to domestic disputes, despite his divorce from his wife, Hasin Jahan. The 33-year-old cricketer from Uttar Pradesh has faced significant personal challenges, including accusations of domestic violence and match-fixing filed by his ex-wife, which he has since been cleared of.
In a podcast interview, Umesh Kumar revealed critical details about Shami’s personal struggles. He mentioned that during the tumultuous times, Shami was living with him. “Shami faced numerous difficulties and stayed at my house. When the match-fixing allegations with Pakistan surfaced, Shami was shattered. He said that he could endure everything but could not bear the accusation of betraying his country,” Umesh stated.
He further added, “There were reports that Shami contemplated taking a drastic step that night. Around 4 AM, as I was heading to the kitchen for water, I found Shami standing on the balcony of my 19th-floor apartment.”
Umesh Kumar described that night as the longest of Shami’s life. However, things took a positive turn when Shami received a message from the investigative committee clearing his name. “He was as happy as if he had won the World Cup,” Umesh recounted.
Throughout his cricketing career, Indian star fast bowler Mohammad Shami has faced several challenges. Despite achieving the most wickets for India in the last three ODI World Cup tournaments, his personal life has often made headlines.
