According to media reports, James Kane and his wife Barbie Agostini were magnet fishing in New York when they discovered the chest with $100,000 inside.
James Kane and Barbie Agostini told local news that they were at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens when the magnet at the end of their rope struck something heavy in the water.
The couple mentioned that this wasn’t the first time they had found something in the water, but it was the first time they had found a chest filled with $100,000.
Meanwhile, the New York Police Department has permitted the couple to keep the cash, as police officers found no evidence linking the money to any recorded crimes.
